I was made to do this assigment for my WISP module...

Write a short report on Singapore in the year 2030.

As usual, everyone will be *yawn* writing an optimistic-sounding report on future Singapore.

I have close-to-zero hope for my beloved country, and my report reveals it all. Not much effort was put into it though.

My Vision of Singapore in 2030

Singapore in 2030 would be very different from the Singapore we know now.

Its people's complacency has lead to its decline. With China becoming a super power, together with several bigger and rising Asian countries, they overtook a large part of the world's economy. With these factors, Singapore was forced to step down from its position of being one of the most affluent Asian countries. It stopped venturing into the manufacturing industries, and pivoted most of its focus into trading.

Singapore is still governed by the PAP, instead of that local driver who constantly grumbles on how useless the government is. Several parties have come close to winning the election, but the majority still believes that PAP would lead Singapore back to its formal halcyon.

Singapore may have dropped economically-wise, but standard of living is still good, and technology being state-of-art. Hand phones are close to obsolete. Watches that serve a dual function of a contacting device are more popular. Highly-advanced and intelligent robots have replaced workers doing menial chores. It's common for each household to own an integrated computer system, and wealthier citizens may even own an android maid! A snap of the fingers and your light turns on immediately. People walk about the household with a master remote control. Android maid does all the other house work such as cleaning, cooking etc. Pollution is no longer a problem with the new anti-pollution technologies, and water being a less of a hassle due to direct supplies from Indonesia. Singapore maintained its clean and green status and lives up to its name of 'garden city'.

With all its technology, the citizen of Singapore grew lazier and unhealthier, leading to the rise in demand of the medical industries - and the drop in quality sportsman. (Not to mention, citizens becoming more... aesthetically-challenged.)

Quite a number of its people have migrated in search of greener fields, leaving the country with an aging population. The declivity in birth rates plunged even further. In a desperate attempt to boost its population size, the government attracted more foreigners to the country which lead to a friction among locals and foreigners. Productivity is still good, but not like what it was in the past.

In all, Singapore's future seems bleak for the years to come.
