It's a tower for goodness sake! | Tuesday, January 24, 2006

Not very long ago...

While I was waiting for my bus to arrive, I noticed two elderly people talking about God. Then for no apparent reason, the old lady suddenly bounce (ok, maybe she dint bounce) to my side and started preaching.

Yadada...Adoration room...yadada...very peaceful...yadada...holy grounds...

But she inspired me to go la. (that's because it's only 3 mins walk hehe)

After my test, I have the urge to go spend some time with Him. And I went to the St mary of the angel's adoration room for the first time today. IT WAS A TOWER FOR GOODNESS SAKE! Maybe, they should have called it adoration tower. I stepped in, and groaned mentally. Seven people in the room. When I walk into the adoration room, it's supposed to be empty, waiting for me, all mine! Okay never mind that...

I realized I intruded into some kind of gathering. It starts at eight and I arrived at...well...eight. Coincidence, I would say. They invited me to join them, which I did. The speaker was spiritually-strong, and the words he spoke were profound or deep - I don't mean his vocab was bombastic. It's difficult for a normal christian to grasp what he's speaking. But we know Clement is no normal christian. Anyway, what I am trying to say is, I grasp only a small percentage of what he taught us - the same way how students learn so little from sunday class.

Meditation...I sucked at that area seriously. My mind is very active and I'll probably fall asleep at some point -which I did at the last few minutes. While meditating, places that you never knew itches starts itching. To still your body down is bad, but to quieten down your mind is even worse. It's tough to meditate for twenty minutes straight la. But I did learn quite a few tips today.

I'll be visiting the adoration room more often.

Readings

How do you measure your worth? By the size of your home or the car you drive? Perhaps by the amount of money you've earned, saved, or spent? Is it by your education, position at work, or social prominence? Or is it by your children's success in the world? Or by good deeds you've done, your knowledge, or the recognition you receive from others? While these things may measure success and accomplishments, none of them measures worth at its deepest level. As far as God is concerned, our worth is based solely upon the miraculous fact that each of us has been created in the image and likeness of his beloved Son.

Clement's comments:
I remembered this incident when this girl introduced her brother to me. I couldn't remember his name, but I remembered he was from RJC. It's natural for us to remember people by what they do. And there was this girl that remembered me from YISS camp because I wanted a dragon henna. Boohoo.

Everytime I look at the mirror, I see God's image.
*points at mirror.* "Hey Clement. created in God's image indeed. No wonder, you're so beautiful."

Just think: Before we were born, God loved us (Psalm 139:13-16). He created us in his own image and likeness, and made us his children (Genesis 1:26-27). He breathed the very breath of his life into us (2:7) and is delighted with us (1:31). Our worth is so great that when we sinned and fell, he sent his own Son to redeem us (John 3:16-17). He poured out his Holy Spirit in our hearts so that we could be with him always (Romans 5:5-8).

That is the true measure of our worth! Do you believe it? Is it enough for you? Basing our worth on anything else leaves us open to the trap that Saul fell into. Since his worth was wrapped up in his accomplishments, he became “very angry, jealous, and even fearful when David was credited with greater feats than his.

Like Saul, we are weakened when we measure our worth in any other way. But the truth remains: God loves us. The immortal, eternal, all-powerful God of the universe chose to create each one of us because he loves us.

Accept his love today. In your prayer, declare this truth and thank him for loving you. You can receive this love today by simply stating your faith in him and then resting quietly in his presence, asking him to fill you up. Then, as you begin to experience more of him, you will find yourself praising him and obeying him throughout your day. There’s nothing like knowing that we are God’s own delight!

Father, thank you for loving me. You know everything about me, and yet you love me anyway. Help me today to receive your love, to learn it in a new and deeper way, and to let it flow out to others.

Psalm 56:2-3,9-13; Mark 3:7-12
