Trip to Geylang. | Saturday, October 22, 2005
I would love to post some pictures of my trip today but sadly; Guan lin didnt bring the digicam.
1130-1200: Lunch at burger king...met up with Mong xing, old friend of mine which I had not seen for like -ermm...20months?- His current hairstyle is somehow similar to Jerry yen(F4)
1200-430: Lan gaming at Parco arcade. A stuffy and warm area with laggy computers; at least the price made up for it =). Had 3 Dota games and a series of unfortunate games of Hero siege.
445: Left for Geylang...you can take bus 7 for Bugis street. You will reach there in around 7 bustop.
So...this is my first time to Geylang, I did'nt know Geylang looks like a long and straight road. Moses told me the Lorongs are branch out like a -errrr FF10 sphere-, which means I didnt see much of it.
Our first stop (after a very long walk in the humid weather with the merciless sun beating on our backs)
: A smelly beancurd restaurant(forgot name la =/)
As the name implies, it really really stinks! Let me describe the smell...it smells like diarrhoea in a dirty drain. (It is estimated that only 1 out of 10 Singaporeans know how to spell diarrhoea correctly, I am sooo proud of myself)
Considering the size of the beancurd; two dollars is a lofty price for it. It taste pretty good. Crispy on the outside and soft in the inside, unlike most of the beancurd I ate.
Rating: 7 (For the smell and the...size)
We ordered a dish of fried pig intestines. Havent tried that before...
It taste like the skin of suckling pig...pretty good I must say.

On our way to another shop, We ate a char siew bao. Nothing special. Geylang seems to have quite a lot of massage palours -which I presume the massage with start from the leg and somehow end up with the crotch-. A 'red light' house seem to have started business and the girls(auntie) tried to cajole us in with their idiosyncratic 'china accent'. Lai ahh...
We refused them politely...
Next stop: A taiwan snack bar
I had 'You tiao' and salty beancurd -first time trying it-.
Salty beancurd is like your normal beancurd with shrimps, light sauce, salted vegetables and spring onions. I will stick to normal beancurds from now on...

No comments for the 'you tiao' except they are bigger than average.
The fried meat dumplings were actually good. The standard is comparable to that of a restaurant. I tasted better though...

Next stop: Beef horfun
Curse the bloody woman! She expected us to pay a $20 plate of horfun for 4 people. That's madness!(after all that food in our stomachs) That woman refused to give extra chopsticks and spoons for us to share a $6 dollar plate. But we did prevail in the end when we bothered another auntie instead. The portion of the six dollar plate is equilivant to that of a $3 dollar plate found in any stalls. Beef was tender and the sauce, tasty. Yum!

Thus, conclude my trip to geylang.
On the journey back, Wenbin's mother called. She really thought that her son was growing desperate and needed to vent off his frustration. The others were making crude speeches/noises in faux, high-pitched voices; trying to convince her otherwise.
It failed....I think. But it was freaking funny.
End notes: This trip was disapointing as I wanted to check out the 'showrooms'-my friend mentioned about-. There wasnt any coquettish prositutes that would approach you and 'introduce' herself. Guess we went back even before they came out to prowl.
Hope my next trip would be a better one!
